POSITION TITLE: Management Accountant

HOURS: 24hrs / week (3days)

MANAGER: Deputy Financial controller

LOCATION: Bruichladdich Distillery, Isle of Islay, Scotland, UK OR Glasgow city centre office

 This is a key role in a small finance team based between Glasgow and Islay. The role can be based out of either office. We are a successful business that has strong growth ambitions for the future. This role has materialised due to a staff member returning part time from maternity leave. Due to the size of the team the role is very varied with the opportunity to touch many areas of the business from a finance point of view. We are looking for someone with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, an openness to change and continuous improvement, and a safe pair of hands. The role would suit a qualified accountant perhaps making their first move out of practise.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts, providing insightful analysis to support business growth
  • Ownership of a number of balance sheet accounts, including journal postings and reconciliations
  • Business Partnering and supporting the wider business
  • Analysing stock and cost of sale postings and identifying and following up any reconciling differences
  • Reconciliations between sales system and ERP system for visitor centre sales
  • Ownership of fixed asset register, posting capex, activating assets and running depreciation
  • Review and document processes and improve where appropriate
  • HMRC reconciliations, including duty and VAT
  • Support with audit and tax work
  • Working closely with the FP&A team
  • Occasional visits to the other company office locations

  • Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  •  Strong technical accounting skills
